The ABC Immunization Calendar® program generates highly individualized immunization calendars for new parents and their babies, and has demonstrated efficacy in improving rates of childhood immunization. Many innovative and effective public health programs like this one fail to have a significant impact on communities because they are never appropriately disseminated to the agencies and organizations that can use them. To avoid this failure, we developed an adoption process and implementation materials to assist health care providers in the St. Louis area in implementing the ABC Immunization Calendar® program at their health centers. This presentation will describe the key steps in developing the implementation plan, share adoption and implementation materials, and describe how its effectiveness was evaluated. Recommendations are provided for prevention researchers and practitioners who want to more effectively disseminate their successful programs.
Learning Objectives: After attending this presentation, audience members will be able to: 1. Identify one successful health promotion and disease prevention program designed to address the childhood immunization program. 2. Describe the key steps in developing the program, demonstrating its effectiveness, and disseminating the program to other organizations. 3. Describe specific recommendations and techniques for other researchers to more effectively disseminate their successful programs
