Health care providers have identified some health care products, including those containing polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plastic, DEHP, and mercury as products which are unsustainable. These products may threaten health when produced, used or disposed of. A campaign which encourages the manufacture of alternative products, and promotes the purchase and use of these products in the health care setting will be discussed. Tools used to educate health care providers, create and influence markets and increase demand for alternatives will be featured.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant will be able to: Identify harmful products in the health care setting; Identify educational efforts used to change purchasing patterns; and, Identify tools used to encourage manufacturers to create new products
