Apligraf (R) is currently in use and is approved for use for the treatment of Chronic Venous Stasis Ulcerations. This presentation will discuss several cases that represent long-standing chronic ulcerations for which Apligraf (R) is used to augment wound closure. The biochemistry, anatomy and indications for use of Apligraf (R) will be discussed. Wound management with antibiotics status post use of Apligraf (R). How to prevent wound colonisation with local bacterial flora. We will discuss the theory and essentials of wound compression dressings will show why these types of dressings provide maximum benefit. Studies and actual clinical applications demonstrate successful wound closures with Apligraf (R) use.
